Bathroom Flooring FAQs

Bathrooms experience high levels of humidity and moisture, so you need something that can keep up.

That’s why our bathroom floors are designed to handle an excessive amount of water. Luxury vinyl (LVT), coremaster SPC, firmfit plank boards, or laminate flooring are all great choices, as they offer a stylish appearance and years of resistance to splashes and spills.

With plenty of designs to choose from, from herringbone to tile-effect floors, you can enjoy a beautiful floor that holds up well against humidity and moisture.

Yes! We provide a variety of waterproof and water-resistant bathroom floors, depending on what you’re looking for.

We highly recommend our 100-hour waterproof floors, as they can withstand being submerged in water for 100 hours straight! That means you’ll get years' worth of use out of them, no matter how many splashes and leaks your bathroom experiences.

You won’t have to worry about mould or mildew growth or warping. You can also mop in peace, since the floors dry quickly and don't absorb any moisture.

In bathrooms, you’re dealing with water droplets, condensation, and slippery feet, so you want a floor that provides a good grip.

Our laminate and LVT floors for bathrooms provide a soft underfoot feel while mimicking the look of real wood or tile. Since tile is known for its slippery surface, you can enjoy its appearance without the downside of slipping when getting out of the bath or shower.

Coremaster SPC and firmfit plank floors also offer a cosy, warm feel and a firm grip in bathrooms. Placing down bathmats is also a great idea to add another layer of safety.

Yes! All of our bathroom floors can be paired with underfloor heating systems. This adds an extra layer of comfort, keeping you warm when getting dried and changed.

Just be aware that floor surface temperature should not exceed 27°C, because excessive heat can cause issues such as movement, gapping, or stress on adhesives

In most cases, an underlay provides a smooth, protective layer to help keep floors soft, springy, and safe from damage.

However, sheet vinyl and most click- or glue-down LVT floors are designed to be installed directly onto a smooth, sound, dry subfloor. Adding an underlay can lead to joints opening, clicks failing, or wear showing sooner.

If your subfloor is uneven or has small imperfections, a latex/self-levelling smoothing compound is a good option. Some LVT floors may require underlay, so it’s best to check product specifications before installing.

It’s possible to install vinyl or LVT floors over existing tiles in a bathroom.

However, grout lines and tile edges can “telegraph” through the new flooring over time, so it’s always best to just start with a clean surface.

If you want a quick, temporary installation, then you can use primer and levelling compound to smooth out grout lines so they don’t show through the new floor. You’ll also want to make sure the tiles are in great condition before laying anything on top of them.

Water can sneak into seams and edges around your floors, so you want to make sure to seal any gaps off or add skirting boards around the edges of the floor to cover expansion gaps.

We also suggest sealing around any pipework, bathtubs, or sinks using an appropriate bathroom silicone sealant where needed. Door plates are also essential for preventing dirt or moisture from getting under the edge of the floor. They also provide a smooth transition between your bathroom and hallway.
